The diary of the half orc - Prequel

Uove doesn't really remember much of her childhood before she met Gaedren Lamm's
But she does remember that day vividly.

It was just another day at the orphanage for "special" children. Even at the age of 7 Uove understood that "special" meant nobody wanted them because they weren't proper races.
That morning they got berries to go into their porridge, and that afternoon they got to go play outside as long as they could hear when the matron called them.
Uove and her tiefling friend Iva were sulking around and trying to come up with dangerous dares for the other to do when Iva stopped short and tugged Uove against the wall.
"What is it Iva?"
"Look at that man walking this way, he looks so … self important" he snorted
Uove looked over and snickered. "What do you think he's doing in our part of town?"
"I don't know, but i bet you cant drop this dead mouse in his pocket without noticing."
"EW Iva, how long have you had that thing."
"Not very, so, are you going to do it?"
"Do what?"
"Put the mouse in his pocket"
Uove watched the man for a minute. "Okay, give me the mouse"
Uove stalked the man for a little bit before bumping him and dropping the mouse in his pocket. As she started to duck away a hand came on her shoulder.
"And just what do you think you are doing my little lamb?" He seemed so nice, she started to regret playing a prank on him.
"Sir?"
"Don't you know its rude to bump into somebody?"
"I'm sorry sir, you look really busy, so I'll leave you alone now." She tried to pull away.
"Where are your parents?"
instead of answering she lowered her eyes to the ground.
"Uove! Uove! are you okay?" Iva called out coming closer to them.
"Uove? what a pretty name for a pretty little lamb. And who is this strapping lad"
"Um. Iva." he skidded to a stop.
"Ah, Iva and Uove. I take it your both orphans, from the shelter for the special children right? No, No, hold your heads up high little lambs. How about y'all come home with me. For a little light work you can have your own rooms and three hot meals a day. I'll make sure you want for nothing."
Uove and Iva looked at each other, an offer to be adopted together? Who could pass that up, now she really felt bad for the dead mouse in his pocket.

A big surprise was that he wasn't mad when he found the dead mouse in his pocket that night. he just laughed and gave Uove a hug telling her she was going to be his favorite little lamb.

For the next 8 years Uove "little light work" normally consisted of planting things on people or businesses because for some reason, people think half orcs are to stupid to be sly. She got to steal from places if she saw something she wanted and could get away with it, which she always did.

On her 15th birthday after planting somebody's stolen jewels under a loose floorboard of someone else house a shrine caught her eye near the bed and she was drawn to it.
Why, why would someone have a shrine with a ale mug on it? Could that seriously be a holy symbol? she flinched it without realizing it and left.
That night as she laid in bed she turned the mug in her hands. she had the next day off, she made a note to go find a church and find out more.
That morning she felt the need to hide the symbol, which was weird, she never needed to hide anything before. But something inside screamed at her to hide it, so she did, at the bottom of her chest.
It was the third church she went into that had the same holy symbol and she walked up to the alter, tilted her head and just stared. Something, something about this symbol, this god, called to her
"You look so lost and confused child. How can I help you?" A kind cleric asked
It took Uove a minute to realize that the cleric was talking to her, she was either called her name or Lamm's Lamb
"A mug of ale is a holy symbol?"
"You never learned anything about the accidental god?" His voice sounded full of humor
"I never learned anything about any of the gods, religion is for the weak minded."
"Weak minded?" all the humor was lost from the voice.
Uove shrugged. "I don't know. religion isn't something that is talked about at home."
"What brings you here?" The cleric's voice became stern.
Uove finally looked away from the alter and at the cleric eyes full of confusion. "I don't know. I found a shrine and I just … I just had to know more.
The cleric softened at the honest confusion and pointed at one of the pews. "Sit child, let me tell you the story of the drunk man who accidently became a god."
"Accidently became a god? and can anybody become a god?"
"Sit child."

within the week the holy symbol had been brought to Gaedren's attention, not that Uove ever found out how. When Gaedren thought that she was just sneaking alcohol he was mildly upset, but when he realized that she attached the mug to Cayden Cailean he broke it in front of her and then had her beaten

The whole time they beat her she focused on everything she had learned about the accidental god blocking out the pain to the best of her ability. But even if you block out pain, your body can only handle so much damage before you pass out.

When she finally woke up her room had been stripped bare. She had lost all her honor and knew she would have to start from scratch prob doing harder jobs.

No, there was something still in her room, the broken mug sat on her bedside table, as a warning and a reminder she was sure. Uove couldn't tell you how long she stared at it before passing back out.

The next time she woke up she realized she could move and that there was cold porridge on her bedside table. She sat up gripping her head and tried a bite, but wasn't hungry. She looked at the broken mug again, stood up and then walked out the door.

The next time she really realized what was going on she was sitting on a church pew looking at the alter, not realizing that she was in the same clothes as when they beat her, or that she was still covered in blood and bruises.

Uove had gotten to the church a little after midnight, the young cleric who was tending the church at that time was to scared of her to do anything other than watch her, not that she noticed, she was just watching the alter.

When the cleric who introduced her to the religion woke up and found her he just sat next to her until her stomach growled, and then brought her food.

It took about a week before Uove would do anything more than watch the alter, eat, and be persuaded to sleep in a bed.

But then it was like she woke up from a bad dream.

She joined the church, helping maintain it and learning everything she could. As she reached maturity the clerics started trying to help her find her path.

When she admitted that she only felt safe in the church near the alter one the clerics remembered that half orc summoners eidolons tend to be avatars of their gods

While understanding enough of the basics to teach her how to summon one for the first time, they said she would need to leave the church to become stronger.

"Strong enough to see Gaedren punished?"
