Behind the Attic Wall by Sylvia Cassedy

Yes, I know, this book is older than I am! And this is one of those few times I'm going to tell you if you want a copy of it your better off looking at used bookstore websites like Powell or other links like it.

So, I want to talk about this book.  Spoiler alert.

This book is older than me and I'm worried about Spoilers?

...
Moving on.

While I'm pretty sure I read this book when I was younger, I remember almost none of it.  So I'm going to treat this like it's my first read through.

Maggie, yeah, Maggie is a brat. I guess you could justify them parents died and she just didn't know how to handle it outside of being a brat. But you can see her potential in her daydreams and the games she plays.

I think Uncle Morris is just what she needed, only a lot more and a lot sooner. I like how she eventually figures out he's not teasing her to be mean, it's just who he is.  To bad he couldn't have taken care of her instead of her aunts.

... auntie one and auntie two... yes they have names, didn't really care enough about them to retain the names.  They are the wrong type of people to be given someone like Maggie.

When Morris said that he thought Maggie was the one, I honestly thought he ment something about making the aunts more ... I dunno, nice? loving?

... listening to the dolls talk in the beginning, I did remember who they where.  It was funny to listen to them, and honestly, they sound a lot like uncle Morris

Which makes me think.  When uncle Morris was a child, did he play with the dolls? He can obviously hear them.

I'm not going to sum up the whole book. Because that isn't what has been pressing my mind since he told Maggie he would bring them back.

He *knew*
He knew when he died he was going to join the dolls.
And he mentioned a time, and said it won't be that time for much longer.

Did he know? Was he foreshadowing his death?
We aren't told the time of his passing, but I bet that is the time.

So now there is three dolls and a puppy missing an ear.

Now that there is no chosen one to hear them, will they still come to live?

Things got added when uncle Morris became a doll, but what got added? Is there a new newspaper with his obituary? Maybe a magazine?

And then what will happen when the aunts die?

Will Maggie get the "school"? What will she do with it? Will she move in or visit? Will she still be able to hear the dolls the way uncle Morris xan?
Will she visit them? Will she invite her sisters? Will they hear the dolls?

How about Maggie's children?

...

What will happen when Maggie dies?

Will she become a doll?

What items will she bring with her?

So many questions
