Seaflower - 6

The day had seemed to crawl and at the same time fly by.  By dusk he was so nervous he went to one of his squadrons and asked for a flight.  Every time he rode in a jet was the same.  It feels like the first time you’re on a rollercoaster, a little bit excited, but wanting to back out at the last second.  The skipper of the squadron knew his problem.

“Don’t worry Tye, I’ll have you safe and sound back on your boat in no time.”

Tye was still worried, but his worries washed away when a small amount of time later he saw his ship on the water.  The sun was setting on one side, all those colors reflecting off the sea’s surface.  The moon rising on the other side… It was breath taking, worth any uncomfort that the landing and take off might cause.  Tye lipped a prayer at the beauty of it all.

When Tye got off the jet he was relieved, and felt positive about the day.  Of course, that all went away a few hours later. when his name was called and he stepped to the platform, he felt terrified.

Tye said a soft prayer.
